The Great Wall of China
One of the most magnificent wonders of the world is THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA! It truly defines the term what it is to be a wonder of the world. I travel to China every year and every year I discover something new. This year I discovered one of the most amazing views I have ever seen with my own two eyes. The Great Wall of China, is truly a masterpiece.
We booked a driver, and traveled from the hotel with two of our local friends. The ride took approximately an hour. It is important to get a driver, or at least someone who knows the park well. Otherwise it is very easy to get lost on the route. When we finally arrived we purchased tickets, grabbed some water and headed to the shuttle. My friends and I decided to take the cable car up the wall, instead of hiking up the steps because we were on a timeframe. The cable car fits two, and it's actually a really fun ride up, with incredible views. For you risk takers, you should definitely try it. Just make sure you wear sneakers because after the beautiful scenic cable ride, it's time to walk one of the most amazing wonders of the world.
You can choose to go right or left, but no matter which direction you go be ready to climb some steep pathways and rocky grounds. In some parts of the climb I had to get my hands dirty, and use all fours. Trust me, in the end it is all worth it. You'll sweat and may get a bit tired, just make sure you have WATER and keep going. (Reminder, there will be vendors along the route with water and souvenirs to purchase along your way.) Once you get to the watchtower, you can take a break and capture some incredible pictures.
My friends and I traveled The Great Wall of China for over an hour, and it probably was one of the most amazing adventures I have ever experienced! The Great Wall of China is something I could not put into words, even the images I took would never do it justice. Just GO!
Leaving the wall, we had the option to climb down or bobsled. I immediately jumped on the bobsled opportunity. (I'm a sucker for an adrenaline rush.) So my friends and I got in line, and there were instructions posted on how to operate the bobsled. When it was my turn I jumped in, and pushed the steering rod forward to go fast (might not have been the safest idea, but live a little!) Remember the more space between you and the other bobsleds, the faster you can zip down the wall. Oh, and you're not suppose to use your phone while riding down in the bobsled, but I did - shhhhh!!
Travel! There's such an incredible world out there to see! The Great Wall of China truly defines the word "WONDER."
