DIY: SWEET AS HONEY
Did you know, HONEY contains natural anti-bacterial properties, enzymes & probiotics that do wonders for the skin?
Manuka Honey is considered an "active" honey. All honey has hydrogen peroxide in it, which is created by enzymes that bees manufacture along with the sugars to turn into honey; all honey also contains methylglyoxyl [word of the day!], a bactericidal compound, but in very low concentrations. The magic of manuka honey is that the bees pass on the additional antifungal and antibiotic properties of the tea tree into their already nice 'n' antibacterial honey, creating more active hydrogen peroxide and methylglyoxyl. This makes manuka honey the subject of much study as a wound dressing, MRSA fighter, and acne "miracle" cure. [SAVE THE BEES!] I always use Manuka Honey for everything medicinal.
By the way, raw honey reduces oils and bacteria while gently nourishing your face! So, here's what I do...
What you need:
1 tablespoon of Manuka Honey
1 Pinch of Nutmeg and Cinnamon
- Massage face for 30 seconds
- Leave for 10 minutes then wash off [after washing your face I like to apply a tad bit of coconut oil as moisturizer]
- If you are fighting off acne, add a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg to your honey mask + wash.
You will LOVE the results and will smell as sweet as honey!
